Omaha Kicks Off 2018 Breast Cancer Events
Heubel Shaw has kicked off their 2018 Breast Cancer Initiatives in Omaha this past Saturday (August 11th, 2018), with a Texas Hold Em/Bunco Night.
At this point I am assuming you know our story and you are familiar with the work we do in partnership with the American Cancer Society. We're proud of it, its our culture, and more importantly we love knowing that we are helping fight this fight for someone who can't.
For those that may not be so familiar, Heubel Shaw has a long standing history when it comes to the work we do surrounding Breast Cancer Awareness. Over the past 5 years alone, we have worked hard within our communities and organization to raise over $160,000. 100% of the proceeds raised every year are given to our local American Cancer Society offices to assist in their Making Strides Against Breast Cancer efforts. This money goes to so many different areas of need - research, hotel stays for those being treated and their families, wigs, makeup tutorials, treatments, transportation, etc.... How do we raise these donations? By hosting events and auctions within our local markets. We have taken simple bake sales and turned them into 4 events in 3 cities. We work with service centers across the country as well, hosting ebay auctions for Custom Pink Pallet Jacks. None of this would be possible without our people and their passion for the cause.
2018 Heubel Shaw Breast Cancer Awareness Events were kicked off by our Heubel Shaw Omaha branch, this past Saturday August 11th. Omaha opted to host their first ever Texas Hold Em and Bunco Night. With the Local VA in downtown Springfield, NE opening their doors for our location and many local companies and individuals donating items for the Silent Auction and Bake Sale, it was safe to say by the end of the night this event was a huge success. The doors opened at 6 pm, all who where attending could help themselves to an all you could eat Taco Bar, Free beer, and 7 tables full of incredible items to bid on or buy raffle tickets for. Gambling started at 7 pm, but even if you weren't a gambler - it was a great atmosphere to catch up with old friends and make new ones who were all there for the same reason. We left the night saying "Friends turn to Family when you're all fighting for the cause".
With the help of our community, family, friends and of course the Heubel Shaw Omaha branch coming together to make this event such a great time, $3500 was raised for the cause. This number will be matched dollar for dollar by our company, which will have Heubel Shaw Omaha donating $7,000 to their local American Cancer Society location. Every year, with every event we are blown away by the generosity of all involved. Whether you donated your time, money, items,etc... we have seen first hand how appreciated it truly is and We Thank You.
